Do it Yourself

My guess was right instead of hiring someone to fix the problem in our bathroom the landlord do it with himself. Yesterday he arrived with his tools and new shower hose and faucet for the hot water.  He started to fix the faucet first and in just matter of minutes he is able to change it to the new one, I stayed with him while he is fixing the problems in the bathroom.  I just sit or stand outside the door, at first I am in hesitation if I will accompany him or just let him work while I am surfing the internet but I just thought I am too rude to do that so I stopped surfing and talk with him up to the best I can.

The next thing he fixed is the shower hose which is leaking near the shower head, it was broken when his friend came over to fix the plugged toilet. He uses the shower hose to unplugged toilet, the landlord asked me if we dropped the shower which I replied we didn’t together with action how it was broken.

The landlord also fixed the pipe in the sink he cleaned it and he removed a lot of hair stuck in the pipe, I guess some of them are mine when I cut my hair the first time I dropped them in the sink and I was not able to removed all of them when I am done, and some of the hair was from my husband when he shaved his head and face and the other hair probably from the previous people who stayed in this apartment.

Dunno what is the landlord thinking but he also removed the pipe connected to the drain in the bathroom sink and when he removes it, it was broken  so he went out to buy a new one, I heard his car left eh.

When he arrived he is holding a new drain for the bathroom sink, it took him long time to figure out what to do because the pipe doesn’t look with the old drain and the screw was too big for his tools, so what he did is tear the old drain of the bathroom sink and changed it with the new one instead of just changing the pipe.

So when he is about to return the curly pipe behind the sink it was too long and it is curling up so he cut it but as what I know the sink is not really the problem nor the shower it was just secondary. The main problem is the drainage is over flowing when there’s water coming from other apartment so I went to Google translate to translate what I want to say in Hangul and hit Listen so he can hear it.

He changed the shower hose again to the old one and put it on the drain behind the kitchen sink and flush all the dirt, some dirt when up and it stinks a lot. After which everything was fine so he asked me to get a bag to throw the old hose and other broken bathroom materials, I said my thank you and after he went out I gave him water to drink. Just too bad are fridge is empty and we have nothing to eat because we are on juice fast diet all of our groceries are fruits and vegetables, which we have to buy that night.

Packrat Cleaning

I felt itchy to clean my junks yesterday. I just thought its time to threw the things I don’t need anymore, my husband was surprised when he arrived home school when he saw me cleaning. He said if he is going to volunteer cleaning with me, he wants all my things to be thrown. Lol!

Anyway I end up throwing chocolates case, few cartoons and papers. The rest are all important to me, the lonely planet guide we printed for vacation, the notebooks I bought, tickets and other memorabilia’ s from our vacations.

My husband always teased me of being a packrat and he was even disgusted with the title of this blog, asking me if I am proud of being  a packrat. Oh well all I know I am sentimental every thing is important to me and need to be keep, I guess I developed being  a packrat on my childhood.

Long time ago the dump site was located in our Barangay near the river banks and one time my older cousin invited me to look for big milk cans that they are going to use for planting flowers in their garden,  while looking around the dump site I saw usable school supplies like pencil case so I picked them and end up playing with them at home.

Attractive Railings

My sister uploaded new photos in Facebook  that was taken on my cousin son’s birthday. I was surprised to see that our cousin’s house was almost finished, they added porch on their house which looks very nice and attractive especially they used carved decorated metal railings. The last time I saw their house it looks very small but when I see it again on picture it looks larger than what I thought.

I hope next year we can also start our house construction my sister told me the other day that the window on my room is already gone, eaten by termites.

Easy Home Décor Updates

Sometimes you’d just like a change – perhaps the bedroom looks drab after a long winter and you want to refresh it or the bathroom needs a new look. There are some quick and easy ways to update any room in your home, especially with textiles such as comforters and pillows. New camo  print bedding can transform a dull bedroom with little more effort required than making the bed while some colorful toss pillows can refresh a mundane den or family room in minutes.

The bathroom can be updated and it does not necessarily mean you need to replace the bathroom vanity and faucets – there are some easy upgrades which don’t require calling a plumber. Start with the tub or shower and consider replacing the conventional shower curtain rod with a curved shower curtain rod to change the tub profile and add extra elbow room. A new shower curtain can transform the look of a bathroom plus experts recommend replacing it on an annual basis so why wait.

Introduce a new color with bath mats, towel and window treatments or create a more spa-like experience with the addition of a teak shower bench or bath mat. A towel warmer can really upgrade the entire bath and shower experience – nothing beats the feeling of a hot fluffy towel after a shower; there are free-standing towel warmers along with wall mount and counter top models designed to work in almost any bathroom configuration.

A handheld showerhead is another spa-like amenity that has real value in any home. Shampooing hair, washing pets and even cleaning the tub or shower enclosure is much easier with a handheld showerhead. They are also useful for seniors and invalids who may wish to bathe while seated.

Mopping the Floor with Bleach

We are leaving for vacation on Saturday so I started cleaning around here in our apartment before I went busy packing our clothes. When my husband  arrived home he complaint again with the stench of bleach in our apartment.

I typically used bleach on our floor when I mop it, I also cleaned the microwave oven which I can’t remember anymore when was the last time I cleaned it, lol! I have been very busy and engrossed spending my time online.

House Construction Plans

The other day my mother asked me again if when we can start building our house, I answered maybe next year. We have no budget this year as I am going home, she added that one of our relative will also build a house after my cousin went home. So if ever they started their house construction our house is the only left in a bad condition around the neighborhood because most of the houses around us are already concrete made unlike us which is just semi-concrete.

Aside from house construction my mother also wish to buy a refrigerator so she can start a business that could help them to survive for their daily food. It is a good plan actually so I am now saving for it so when I went home I can buy her even a small refrigerator.
