Kitchen, Pantry and Bathroom Door Plan

Our new home is far from being finished, the new bathroom was finally done it should be done long time ago if we didn’t move the bathroom to the storage area.  I have asked to move it because the bathroom door is right at the kitchen, I find it awkward and unpleasant despite it was already tiled and ceiling was already made.

Kitchen and Bathroom Door

With this, we have to buy new set of tiles for the new bathroom, the fixtures like faucet, shower and toilet bowl was not yet installed so it was not really a major alternation. We made the old bathroom as a pantry so  in short we just interchange the  use of the two rooms.

Restoring Cleanliness and Organization at Your Home

Maintaining a clean and organized home is every homeowner’s dream. Sadly, this is one dream that is very quite hard to achieve. There are lots of reasons why people can’t afford to put their homes in order. It may be due to the fact that they are too busy, procrastination, so fort and so on. One thing also, it’s hard to keep organization in place especially when there’s kids around.

Regardless of what excuse you have, it is a must that you bring back order to your home. Here are some steps to take:

  • Place things exactly where they should be.

One reason why a home gets too much cluttered and disorganized is due to the fact that people living at home do not return the things to the proper place while using it. Avoid doing this and you will be amazed at how smaller the clutter will be.

  • Get rid of the things that no longer serve you.

People who have cluttered homes are those who hoard their things. They avoid getting rid of their things because they think that they might be useful to them in the future. As a result, it becomes pile around the house. Look for things that you no longer needs, like DVD, CDs and many more. You can then give it out to other people or sell them online.

  • Put things into containers.

There are lots of storage containers available today. Find out which type of storage container will work best for you. After that, you can then categorize your things then store them accordingly.

  • Avoid buying the things you no longer need.

The less useless things you buy, the lesser the pile you will have to organize and the clutter that you have to get rid of.

These are quite simple tips but these work well in organizing your home.

5 Tips to Help Maintain your Chainsaw

We are fortunate that chainsaws now come with more safety features than ever before. However, it is still considered to be a dangerous apparatus. To avoid any unseen accident, it’s important to keep the chainsaw in top nick working condition. It can be a life saver and will extend the useability of the equipment. For some quick tips on how to maintain your chainsaw, keep on reading!

Sharpness

A blunt saw is not only useless but dangerous. Your chain should be able to cut through wood without demanding too much pressure from you. If it starts to become hard, produces more sawdust than chips, makes curved cuts or begins to chatter, it’s a good indicator that you need to sharpen the chain. Before you do, assess the size of the chain and purchase a rotary grindstone or chainsaw file that matches. Make sure you clean the blade thoroughly and check for overly worn links and teeth, and when finished, oil the chain and check the tension. Then you should be roaring to go.

Lubrication

One of the most important parts of chainsaw maintenance is keeping the chain lubricated. If avoided for too long, heat will build up and the friction will damage the saw. You’ll find that each time you power up your chainsaw, it will burn through the gas quicker and it won’t turn as fast. While some saws have an auto lubricating feature, other times you might have to do it manually. It’s important not to buy motor oil and invest in a kit that caters specifically to your saw, check out stihl.com.au to see what products on the market.

Keep it clean

The more you use your chainsaw, the more likely it will accumulate dirt and grime. Over time, the muck will become harder to clean off. Ideally, you should be cleaning your chainsaw after each use. Once you’ve finished, brush off the exterior case removing the sawdust that has gathered. Then take an oily cloth and rub off the extra sawdust particles from the case and bar. Make sure you take care when wiping the bar and use heavy duty gloves if necessary.

Fuel Filter

Almost every saw will have a small filter screen that attaches to the end of the fuel pick up line. It is one aspect of a chainsaw that many people tend to overlook when maintaining. If left unattended, small bits of debris will amass over time and clog up the fuel filter, decreasing the performance of your saw. To clean it, pull the end of the line out with a piece of bent wire, then slide the screen off the fuel line. Brush it clean with solvent and reattach. Attach a new fuel filter every two years or so for maximum performance

Prepare it for long term storage

If you don’t expect to use your chainsaw for more than thirty days, start preparing it for storage. The first step is to drain the oil and the gas. You can do this manually or you can start the chainsaw and let it run until the gas is gone, then switch it off and allow it to cool completely. The next step is to clean your chain saw completely with an oily rag, removing all bits of debris. Then remove the chain and store it in an airtight container. Finally, pack your saw away and ensure that it is not accessible to children.

The chainsaw is an extremely handy piece of equipment; with a little common sense and regular care, you’ll be giving it a long life of use.

Winter-Proof Your Home to Save on Heating Costs

As days went by the temperature is getting colder but my husband still doesn’t want to run the heater to save gas and pay less every end of the month in our gas bill.  To feel warm without running the heater my husband closed the window in our balcony and bathroom but it isn’t enough so I am thinking of using plastic bubbles to winter proof our glass doors and windows.  I have seen this DIY winter proofing in the online global shop I frequently visit under home and living categories.

By proper sealing your home you can keep the warm air in and the cold winter air out. It doesn’t only save gas but also protect the money in your wallet by paying large bills every end of the month.  Well, while my plans is not yet put into reality, I am thinking of wearing electric gloves  because my hands always felt cold without a reason. Although I have read that lack of blood circulation is one of the reason to have cold hands.

Soundproof Windows For Better Quality Of Life

If one thing is true about the 21st century, it’s the fact that it might be one of the noisiest times recorded in history. Particularly for people living in large cities, noise pollution can be fairly difficult to live with. Hardly any city in the world ever sleeps. From rumbling delivery trucks in the morning to crowded sidewalk cafés at night, there is no shortage of different sounds. While this probably does not present too much of a problem during the day, it can be a royal pain to deal with during the hours that one would typically reserve for sleep. Knowing how to soundproof windows is the most obvious way forward for the modern city dweller.

Soundproof windows can almost be regarded as a necessity in our modern age. One often finds that older buildings have window sections that tend to let in way too much noise. The reason for this is that most old buildings were constructed with single pane window glass — this is generally way too thin and frail to stop any sound from coming through. Re-installing thicker, soundproof windows is the best way to remedy the problem.

Soundproof Windows

More often than not, you will find that soundproof windows are two or three panes thick. These panes are separated by air pockets which act as a soundproofing mechanism. Try to think of it as an egg box effect. Egg boxes are notorious for muffling sound and this is largely because they are made up of air pockets — that is all there really is to them. It may be necessary to replace the entire window, depending largely on the material in the window frame as well as the thickness of the panes. These thicker windows have no adverse effects on visibility or aesthetic appeal.

In some cases a soundproof insert can be installed in the original window. This is often the preferred option for clients who hope to reduce the cost of soundproofing their homes. The biggest benefit with this solution is that the window does not need to be removed, nor does the frame need to be resized. It may be necessary to fit new curtains or blinds due to the fact that the insert has an effect on this particular aspect of the window area. However, if the price of silence is a new set of blinds, one can hardly complain too much.

With any soundproof windows, it is imperative that measurements are taken correctly. Any gaps or cracks between the window and the frame will allow noise pollution to sneak through. Quality soundproofing inserts and window treatments will reduce noise by approximately 90%. It is important to realize that this promise can only be fulfilled if proper measurements are taken and if the soundproofing product is installed by professionals. This is not necessarily the sort of project that can be lumped into the DIY category.

Essentially, soundproof windows are the sort of home improvement many people need but only a few companies can provide the top results that are needed. Depending on the size and shape of the window as well as the condition of the frames, the professionals will suggest whether or not an insert or an entire replacement will be necessary.

Creative Ways to Decorate the Space Along the Stairs

My father made a cabinet display along the wall of the stairs,  as of now it displays different sizes of stuffed animals and toys.  My sister has a guitar and I think it is a good option if we could display it on the vacant spot but she is asking me to buy a  fender cf 140sce at guitar center to make use of the guitar so I think it is not really a good idea after all.

Space Below the Stairs

The space below the stair was made as a little stock room, I am not happy with the idea because it doesn’t look right but oh well my mother like it so I can’t do anything with it.

Hiring a Contractor for Home Electrical Wiring

The installation of electric cable in our home is not yet finish, the electrician my family contracted has a job so he only go to our house when he is available, he just visited once and hopefully he could visit more often to finish the installation.  There are other electrician  but my family choose to hire him because of good recommendation, well experienced and affordable contract.

Home Electrical Wiring

We didn’t hire one of the electrician we knew because his rate is a bit higher and his experience is not that wide. He studied and trained on vocational school  for about six months and after that he started working in the neighborhood. We actually hired him when we need power outlet to be installed but we have heard that it was bit expensive compared to others who are well experienced so my family searched for good recommendation and that’s how they got the current contractor.
