GroundBreaking on the First Day of Construction

Finally the construction of our house was started few days ago, they started it after a ground breaking prayer or what they called ground breaking ceremony when building big establishments where the Mayor of the town is invited, this is to bless the land and probably the home owners.

Ground Breaking Ceremony

As what I have read Groundbreaking is a traditional ceremony in many cultures that celebrates the first day of construction for a building or other project. Like what I have mentioned about this ceremonies are often attended by dignitaries such as politicians and businessmen. The actual shovel or spade used during the actual groundbreaking is often a special ceremonial shovel meant to be saved for subsequent display and commemorative information may be subsequently engraved on the shovel.

Trends in Architecture

Architecture is an industry that is usually predicated on trends. What works for a previous year may soon be considered as old or passé for the next one. The trends are usually based on people’s preferences which are dictated by the environment and the developments of various situation all over the world.

Here are some of the trends that we are seeing for this year:

Buildings to continue going GREEN:

The world has now become much more environmentally conscious. Every country has seemed to intensify their efforts to protect the environment. This effort has even spread to the way that people build their homes and offices.

For this year, we can expect that more and more architects would try to incorporate a green design. This means that they would begin using eco-friendly materials for their buildings as well as make provisions for installing systems that could help conserve waste and make efficient use of natural resources.

Because of this we can expect more and more architectural projects to start utilizing things such as solar panels for energy, and filtration systems for storms. We could also see designs that are more compatible with natural ventilation as well as environmental light.

Some would even go to the distance of working around the natural environment instead of the traditional bulldoze everything and build on top.

Minimalist design:

Another trend that we can foresee for the year would be the rise of minimalist designs. Previously, the trend was for people to have glamorous and grandiose designs for their buildings, everything seemed to signify large and in your face aesthetics. However, people seem to be opting more towards minimized designs this year.

We can expect to have smaller scale homes with interior designs that are more focused on very little embellishments, natural finishes, and clean lines.

Maximizing space constraints

Related to the minimalist design, an architectural trend nowadays would be to have multi-purpose spaces instead of a 1 room 1 purpose construction. We can now see guest rooms doubling as play areas or music rooms depending on the need or the situation.

This would be further enhanced by furniture that would do double duties such as couches that can convert to beds, coffee tables that can expand to become a dining table, or beds that would have storage options.

Automated systems:

Lastly, we feel that architectural design would now begin to feature more automated systems. The trend of lowered costs for automation and increased technical capability can lead to systems such as temperature, lighting, electronics, and even security, to become controllable via an application on a mobile phone or tablet. There are even some technologies which would automate adjustments based on the habits of the users.

Of course, it would be good to note that these are just trends when it comes to a building’s architecture and interior design. The actual outputs would still be dependent on the vision of the architects who would be designing the projects as well as the clients who would be actually utilizing what they have built.

Stella Harper is an architect who plans to have a burgeoning career in designing luxury homes. She mentions that she idolizes the architectural works of Steven Heyer, and uses his works as an inspiration when it’s time to come up with her own designs for her numerous clients.

House Plan and Perspective Design

Finally I am able to see our house plan and perspective design of hour house. My mother and sister went online yesterday and they sent me the scan copy of our house perspective plan. It was design by our distant uncle, the house looks great and stylish.

House Plan

We decided to have a second floor house because the area designated to us is quite small and two rooms might not fit. This is going to be expensive but we are going to build our house little by little.

A house plan is of major importance, a structure cannot be built without a plan that’s why an outline is  needed in every construction. A house without a plan will not be as beautiful as you plan.

Creating Business at Home

My mother informed me today that our whole kitchen was turn down and they already moved our kitchen tools and utensils in front of our house and at the back of my Aunt’s store, they just put roof and cover to them for safety. I reminded them about seeing the perspective plan of our house because it was a week ago when they told me that they will scanned and emailed the house plan to me, my sister says they already scanned it but the problem is they can’t leave the house because it has no lock and they are afraid that our things will be stolen and they are also busy with their small printing business, as it was doing good. As what I have heard they already have  plenty of customers especially school is closing for vacation and students are getting a lot of projects in order to complete their subjects requirement.

Well, aside from printing they also offer invitation making and the other day I started designing the birthday invitation for my cousin’s daughter. My cousin want a specific design for the invitation, so I just can’t design the style I like. I learned making invitation from my old job, I even made label for candies and offer cheap label printing those time.

Cleaning the Bathroom

I have cleaned the bathroom last night before taking the shower.  When my husband saw me bringing a small cup of laundry soap he stopped me and didn’t want me to use the clothes soap because there’s a liquid soap left in the bathroom by the people who cleaned the apartment before we moved here.

I tried to use it before getting laundry soap but it doesn’t bubbles so I decided to use the laundry soap instead to my husband dismay. He blackmailed of not getting allowance this month if I use the laundry soap but it didn’t stop me I still went to the bathroom and pour  a little soup in the sink full of water with bleach and add the liquid soap too. I have fun cleaning the bathroom despite that it is quite bigger than the bathroom in our old apartment.

Creating More Space in the Apartment

Our new apartment is smaller than our previous one so we requested that TV should be removed to make new space. When we moved we didn’t find the TV anymore but we are thankful that they didn’t remove the small cabinet where the TV was placed because it was useful for the printer and for some books.

We moved the small refrigerator near the sink to use the small space and make more room for other stuff we had.

House Layouting was Postponed

My mother informed me that they already bought 100 sacks of cements, steel bars, braces, hollow blocks and other building materials that could be use in lay-outing the plan of our house. Lay-outing was about to be done yesterday but there’s a problem in the area, it turns out the family land was over the border after the surveyor measure the area.

So lay-outing was postponed until every thing is fine, I have already asked my sister to look for the old coins we used to see in the altar if they started to turn down our house  because I can’t find them anymore it turns out they are long gone and probably scattered by the flood already I thought they could find coins like american eagle coins which could be a good souvenir. I don’t know the value of those coins until now, didn’t know that they could be part of a collection.

New Blinds for the Balcony

Our new apartment was too bright during the day and even at night.  So we requested blinds to be installed to my husband’s director, a week ago a guy came to our apartment to measure the door and afterwards we didn’t hear from him anymore and it turns out he return to install the blinds few days ago but I was not at home, that was the time I renew my passport in Seoul and my husband was at work.

[Door Blinds]

Anyway early in the morning, we heard some knocks and it was the guy who measured the blinds. Finally the blinds were installed, and my husband was able to sleep well during the day.

Blinds are very helpful for home use, they could help to block the sun rays from entering your home. They also give ease of comfort to homeowners.
