Chairs for Church

Long time ago there was a large mango tree on our backyard but because of the danger it may cause during storm or typhoon they decided to cut it down. And because it was too big the wood were made as chairs for church. The men members of our church took time to made those chairs on their vacant hours or off days from work.

They made long chairs from it which is very helpful in the expansion of our church as more chairs are need for growing congregation. Until now those chairs are still in used.

Bird Netting For Vineyards

Methods of Protecting Crops from Birds

Vineyards are very susceptible to birds. Millions of dollars’ worth of crops is destroyed each year because of bird infestation alone. Protecting crops from birds and other pests is a priority for farmers as animals can cause a lot of serious damage. Since the beginning of farming, farmers have used all sorts of methods to get rid of pests such as birds and other animals. The most common method still used today is the use of scare crows. However, with the advancements in technology, people can now also use chemicals and pesticides that deter birds from eating the crops. Electric fences are also used to keep the birds from getting too close to the crops.

However, the use of such methods can be very harmful to birds as well. After all, birds are only animals searching for food. It is never their intention to destroy farms and gardens. One of the safest ways to guard the farms from pests, but also protect the lives of birds, is through the use of bird nets. Bird netting is used by a growing number of farms simply because it is very effective, not to mention that it is a very humane way of keeping birds off vineyards.

Bird nets are made of high quality material that is safe to both the vegetation and the animals. The holes of the nets are small enough to keep the birds from the crops, but big enough to allow the plants to receive sunlight and water.

Methods of Bird netting:

Bird netting for vineyards is relatively easy to do. Hard ware stores, gardening and farming supply stores offer bird nets. There are bird nets that are ready-made for certain plants. All the owner has to do is to fit them over the vegetation. While other bird nets are custom-made for specific crops, there are particular crops have specific shapes and grow to a certain size. These crops require special nets that would fit perfectly.  There cannot be any spaces where birds can enter, so having well-fitting nets is a must. Below are several methods of bird netting for different types of plants:

  • For small crops, the method is very straightforward. All the farmer has to do is to drape the net over the crop and make sure that there is no space on the ground where birds could fly through.
  • For bigger crops, a ladder or a platform would be needed. A bigger net is also required for this process to ensure that every surface is covered. Some ready-made nets are big enough for some trees, but bigger trees would require custom-made nets as they are higher and have more surface area.
  • For row crops, a series of nets can be stitched together to cover the vegetation. This is a relatively easy task, but it can be tedious. As mentioned above, it is extremely important to make sure that there are no spaces between the nets as these spaces would be an invitation for birds to eat the crop.

Weird Noise from the Heater

Few days ago I have blogged about our heater problem so the other day someone from Rinnai (the brand of the heater) came in our apartment followed by our landlady. My husband turn on the heater which is turned off all the while, the guy check the control and run the hot water in the bathroom, he said there’s no problem as the heater is running correctly that time. It didn’t produce weird noises like what we usually heard, but my husband insisted that something is wrong in our heater so our landlady called my husband co-teacher to translate everything.

I also shown them the video that we took that night and let them hear the sound and while watching the heater started to have its weird sound so the service guy open the heater and after a while he figured out what is wrong, the boiler of the heater is working fine that means it is not the problem. He said gas is the problem that’s why it is turning up and down and produces weird noises, the amount of gas is not enough to boil the water. So gas company needs to fix it when they came and we don’t know when.

Our Barangay hold a friendly  basketball  competition this Christmas season, my cousins join the league and guess what they took my mother as their manager. I was surprised when my sister told me this news because it was the last thing I expected.

With regards with this competition, I am sure that on the eve before Christmas day there’s awarding ceremony to be held in our small plaza, the officials will surely rent big and loud speakers to cater the event,  for sure there will be disco afterwards I just hope that the sound  system  has a quality sound like the one provided by rme babyface at Musician’s Friend because there are times that the sound system is a failure.

Our Heater is Broken

Home heaters are important for home owners living in the colder regions.  It is most used during winter season there’s a wide range of  heaters that are available for residential purposes.

These past few days our home heater is acting strange, the floor is heating but every time the room temperature went lower and the heater turns on it sounds very weird. It sounds like something is broken and the heater cannot reach a certain point, you know how car sounds like when it cannot go up the hill, that’s how our heater sounds like.

So today my husband emailed his co-teacher so she can informed the landlord about it, dunno if the landlord will pay a visit today. If ever he visited he would probably call someone to fix it or hopefully buy a new heater like the one from raypak.

Sofas: Essential Living Room Furniture

The living room is a home area where socialization happens as such, individuals who want to make sure that their visitors will have a grand time during their stay should make sure that it is filled with essential living room furniture such as sofas.

It should be noted that not all furnishings that are sold on the market are essential since some are designed to act as decorative items. For instance, curio cabinets and coffee table sets may look good on the living room, but they are not essential since the said area can function without them.

Because of the aforementioned reasons, it would be best to invest on living room furniture such as sofas as well as chairs and pay less attention to those that are designed to add aesthetic values. This option will not only enable homeowners to fully utilize the functions of their living room, it can also enable them to save up huge sums of money.

Sofas have long been known as the most essential living room furniture of all time. Finding the right ones is hassle-free because many of them can be purchased to easily suit different preferences and personalities. In particular, the sofas that is out on the market come in variety of shapes and sizes. Some even come with slides, reclining features, and even beds that may come in handy when unexpected guests arrive.

However, the additional functions also come with extra costs as such; potential buyers should choose practically if they decide to include them. Why purchase a recliner if they would not be used at all. Also, sofa-beds may not be necessary if a house has a substantial number of rooms for guests who will drop by without any notice.

Simply put, when purchasing sofas or any other living furniture, interested individuals should seriously consider their needs and the functions of their living room. If they want to have a comfortable area where guests can freely socialize, then it would be best to choose sofas with appropriate sizes and designs.

Those who want to make the most of their living room without spending up huge sums of money should bear in mind that the essential furnishings like sofas should be prioritized rather than the decorative ones. This will not only enable the full use of the living room, it can also ensure that guests will have a grand time during their visit.

5 Common Mistakes When Designing A Kid’s Bedroom

Designing the interior of your own home isn’t easy, and there are a number of things that can go wrong while you’re in the planning stages. Paying an interior designer can be an exorbitant cost that many families simply cannot justify. The do-it-yourself approach can save thousands of dollars, and really allows you to give the place a very personal touch. It pays to be vigilant, particularly when concerning your kid’s bedroom, after all, an important part of their early lives will be spent in the room that you create for them. To avoid disaster, here are 5 common mistakes that are made when designing a kid’s bedroom.

Poor Paint Choice

This is the first and often the most difficult step when designing a bedroom for your kids. It is far easier to match furniture, bedding and decorations to your paint colour than it is to try and do the reverse. When selecting colours, be sure to consider the effect that it will have on the room. While white is clean and bright, it can look clinical and unfriendly. Darker colours will make a room feel smaller, and can be claustrophobic. Picking something in between will allow the room to look spacious without feeling empty, and will add to the ambiance of the room.

Lacklustre Lighting

Once you have everything painted, you can focus on choosing the lighting that will best complement your colour scheme. Lighting can make or break the ambiance of your room, so try and choose globes that will provide a feeling of cosiness and comfort, while still being bright enough to read by. Consider additional bedside lamps to save energy and be more accessible for the kids at night time.

Disposable Decoration

While Dora the Explorer or Thomas the Tank may be your child’s favourite theme at the moment, next year might bring something completely different. Instead of decorating with specific characters, try and find things that your kids will love for a longer period of time. Once you have all decided on furniture and bedding, a great way to keep the kids happy is to use wall stickers. These look amazing, come in a variety of designs, and can be easily removed without damaging the paint. This will allow you to keep up with your kids ever-changing tastes, while keeping the fundamental (and expensive!) aspects of the room the same.

Be Cautious of Clutter

Kids need room to play. Make sure you keep this in mind when designing the room, and give them an area of floor space which is not hindered by furniture or storage boxes. It is also important to keep high traffic areas clear, such as near the cupboard and all around the bed so it is easy to make every day. A well set-out room that is free of clutter is inviting and comfortable for children of all ages.

A Family Affair

If your kids are old enough to help out, make sure you involve them in the process. If you don’t take on their opinions, you may end up with a room that they won’t want to spend any time in. While it may not be practical to follow all of their suggestions, having them help you out will ensure that the end result is something you will all love. If they have had a hand in choosing furniture and decorating the place, chances are they will look after everything better as well. Now you know what to watch out for: choose your paint first, focus on quality ambient lighting, decorate with the long-term in mind, keep clutter to a minimum and get the kids involved in every step of the design process. With these important aspects in mind, you can go ahead and start designing a room that your kids will love for years to come.
